Juno Awards 2009
Homorazzi Hangs with Aaron Douglas
As you may know, many of us here at Homorazzi.com
have been avid fans of Battlestar Galactica since
the show first aired 4 years ago, so it’s no
surprise that we were thrilled at the chance to hang
out with Aaron Douglas this weekend at the Artist
Sanctuary party for the Juno Awards!
For those less-seasoned BSG fans, Aaron played Chief
Galen Tyrol who has played an integral role
throughout the series. Most recently, in the last
season of the show, "the Chief" was identified as
one of the final 5 cylon models, which afforded
Aaron some great opportunities to flex his serious
acting muscles with some very challenging scenes. If
you haven't watched the series, you're missing out
and should definitely get into it.
In addition to our on-screen love of Aaron for his
involvement with BSG, our time spent with him at The
Artist Sanctuary only made us love him even more.
He's AWESOME!! You'll see from the interview clip
below, he's really friendly and we had a lot of
laughs both on and off camera all day. After our
interview, the beautiful Kandyse McClure also showed
up to the party (more on that interview to come) and
the two of them together were hilarious. We were
laughing and joking the whole day and Aaron is
definitely in tune with the gay scene... just wait
until you see some of the future clips with Kandyse!
Next up for Mr. Douglas is a lead role on the new
show The Bridge which is based on the life of Craig
Bromell of the Toronto police force and if Aaron
brings to it the same skill and talent that he
brought to Battlestar, the show is destined to be a
success!
Show Synopsis: It is the role of the police to
protect society - but who is there to protect them?
The police union has become powerless against the
politically-motivated police department and street
cop Frank Leo (Aaron Douglas) is sick of it. By
popular vote Frank becomes president of the 8000
strong police union but makes many powerful enemies
in the department along the way.
Inspired by the insights of a former police union
head, The Bridge lays bare Frank's struggles - he
not only battles criminals on the street but
sometimes his own bosses and police force
corruption, in order to protect his fellow officers
and ultimately society.
THE BRIDGE premieres on July 9th, 2009 @ 10pm

Wil Wheaton blogs about Aaron
Friday, January 23rd
12:30-1:30pm - Geek Out With Wil Wheaton, Yuri
Lowenthal, and Aaron Douglas Yuri and I worked on Legion of Superheroes
together, and instantly became friends when I
dropped an obscure geek reference that he not only
got, but topped with an equally-obscure reply
(that I also got.) Yuri knows Aaron, and I spent
most of a con in Sacramento last year sitting next
to Aaron Douglas. It turns out that we're all big
geeks, so we thought it would be fun to spend an
hour getting our geek on together. Topics of
conversation will include voice acting and being a
geek who gets to work on these geeky things that
we love.
Friday, January 23rd 10pm - MOTHER FUCKING
ROCK BAND BITCHES YEAH! \m/ This should be a lot of fun: I'll play with
three people at a time, taking whatever instrument
they don't want to play. We're supposed to be
there for an hour, but once we start rocking,
we'll be there until they pry our fake instruments
from our cold, dead hands. There's a very good
chance Yuri and Aaron will join us for a song or
two. Also, if all of this isn't filmed and put
online, I don't know why we even bothered to fight
the Spanish American war, people.
Deadline for submitting questions is midnight on
Sunday January the 11th Vancouver time (PST).
Which makes that 8am on Monday UK London GMT time,
7pm on Monday Australian EST.

Boozapalooza II
Just a reminder that Aaron will be hosting
The Town Pants gig in Vancouver this
Friday ...
Event:
Boozapalooza II: The Town Pants, Run
GMC, & Dustin Bentall! When: Friday, November 21, 2008
at 8:00pm Where: The Commodore Ballroom
(868 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC) Host: Hosted by actor
Aaron Douglas
(Battlestar Galactica)
The band has returned home to Vancouver after 4
months on an amazing tour and are now getting
revved up for BOOZAPALOOZA II!
Last year's SOLD OUT anniversary show was so
successful we're doing it again FRIDAY NOVEMBER
21st 2008! Making for another great night of
local music at the beloved ballroom, also
performing are RUN GMC (back by popular demand)
and the great DUSTIN BENTALL.
Actor Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica, I,
Robot) will be back to MC and be the ringmaster
on this whole circus. It'll be the first
Vancouver appearance of The Town Pants since
May, and it'll be a big night for us and we hope
you can make it down.
Folks are coming from New York, Washington
state, Alberta, Ontario and beyond for this
biggest show of the year so we can't stress
enough to GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY! Tickets are
just $13 in advance and $16 at the door -- which
are UNBELIEVEABLY low for a Commodore show.
So there I am, at
Dragoncon, the greatest of all American conventions,
when suddenly before me is a gaggle of gorgeous
giggling girls (say that 10 times really fast) who
have come to wish me happy birthday. I am presented
with a gift, not just a gift but something so
wonderful, so special, so well thought out and
planned that I am still speechless when I think
about it, use it and show it off to my friends who
invariably respond with, "No frakkin' way!"
My Angels, Aaron's
Angels, gave me an iPod touch inscribed with, "Happy
Birthday Aaron Love Aarons Angels XOX" for my
birthday.
Ladies, and
gentleman, thank you thank you thank you.
I am still learning
the ins and outs of it and the one I was presented
with in Atlanta would not interface with my
....Cylon...ness so I had to return it but the new
one has just arrived, inscribed as the last, and it
is AWESOME!!!!
I get nothing done
all day now though because I sit around and play
SLOTS on the thing... ha
You all know who
you are and I am so very grateful to have you all in
my life, from all over the world. You are all very
special to me and although I have left Scif-fi, at
least for a while, I will never leave my sci-fi fans
and especially my Angels.
Thank you all so
very much.
Your love and
attention means the world to me. I really value all
of you and your place in my life.
As
mentioned previously,
THE BRIDGE
has been picked up and will be made into a tv series.
Below is the press release with the announcement .....
CTV Crosses THE
BRIDGE: New Drama Series
Joins CTV's Original Production Slate
– Compelling and
provocative cop drama executive-produced by Toronto
Police veteran Craig Bromell –
Toronto, Ontario (November 3, 2008)
- CTV announced today the order of a new
one-hour original Canadian drama series,
THE BRIDGE. Based on the
insights of veteran insider and outspoken
former Toronto police union head Craig Bromell,
CTV has ordered 11, one-hour episodes,
following the production of a two-hour pilot
shot in Toronto last summer. THE
BRIDGE provides an unflinching look
at the struggle street cops face as they not
only battle criminals - but also their own
bosses - in order to protect society and,
ultimately, themselves.
Produced by Barna-Alper Productions, an
Entertainment One company, 990 Multi Media
Entertainment Company and Jonsworth
Productions, in association with CTV,
production of THE BRIDGE is
scheduled to begin in 2009. THE BRIDGE
becomes the third, new original drama
series to be ordered by CTV in the last year,
joining last summer's breakout hit FLASHPOINT
and THE LISTENER, currently in production.
"Craig Bromell is one of the most galvanizing
figures in the history of policing in Canada,"
said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative,
Content and Channels, CTV Inc. "We look
forward to working with him on THE
BRIDGE, and bringing to Canadian
audiences a distinct and authentic view of
life behind the scenes of a modern police
force."
"We set out to make the most realistic
two-hour movie drama about cops ever seen on
TV, and it has paid off," said Craig Bromell,
Executive Producer, 990 Multi Media
Entertainment Company. "We expose the inner
workings of a big city police force – the
police, power and politics behind the blue
line. It's something that hasn't been seen
before on TV, and we're grateful to CTV for
this opportunity. We're looking forward to
collaborating with Alan Di Fiore to create
even more compelling, hard-hitting storylines
for the series."
"We are very excited to be able to bring to
our new company this gritty, realistic series
that is brought to life by Alan Di Fiore and
produced by CTV," said Laszlo Barna, Executive
Producer, Barna-Alper Productions, an
Entertainment One company.
Written by five-time Gemini Award winner and
six-time nominee Alan Di Fiore (DA VINCI'S
INQUEST, THE LIFE, THE HANDLER), THE
BRIDGE peels away the veneer of a
big-city Canadian police force to reveal the
political machinations underneath. After the
rank and file unanimously vote street cop
Frank Leo (Aaron
Douglas) into office as union
head, he begins his quest to put street cops
first and clean up the force from the ground
up.
But the old boys' network running the police
force and the city's self-serving politicians
are not about to sit idly by while a former
street cop makes up his own rules. Frank walks
a thin blue line as he battles wiretaps and a
concerted campaign to bring him down, letting
nothing stop him from fulfilling his
unwavering vow that when cops are in trouble,
the union will be there.
THE BRIDGE stars
Aaron Douglas
(BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, SMALLVILLE) as
outspoken union head Frank Leo; Paul Popowich
(ANGELA'S EYES, I ME WED) as Frank's partner
and confidante Tommy Dunn; Gemini-Award
nominee Inga Cadranel (RENT-A-GOALIE, MVP) as
Jill, the free-spirited cop on the force;
Frank Cassini (Vice, INTELLIGENCE) as Staff
Sergeant Bernie Kantor; Theresa Joy (ALL THE
GOOD ONES ARE MARRIED, Sixty Days) as feisty
tomboy Police Constable Billy; Ona Grauer
(STARGATE SG-1 and STARGATE ATLANTIS) as
beautiful, passionate prosecutor Abby St.
James; Michael Murphy (Away from Her, X-Men:
The Last Stand) as Chief of Police, and
political animal, Ed Wycoff; and two-time Emmy
Award winner Stuart Margolin (THE ROCKFORD
FILES, TOM STONE) as Frank's father, Vic Leo.
THE BRIDGE is produced by
Barna-Alper Productions, 990 Multi Media
Entertainment Company and Jonsworth Productions, in
association with CTV. Executive Producers are Craig
Bromell, Laszlo Barna, Adam J. Shully, Alan Di Fiore
and Robert Wertheimer. Wendy Grean is producer.
CTV's Production Executive is Brett Burlock. Susanne
Boyce is President, Creative, Content and Channels,
CTV Inc.

Last weekend Aaron and Wil Wheaton were both guests

I spent the entire day sitting at a table next to
Aaron Douglas, who plays the Chief on BSG. We hit
it off pretty quickly (it turns out that we have a
mutual friend in Yuri Lowenthal, who I worked with
on Legion and who I currently work with on Ben 10:
Alien Force). If you get a chance to see him at a

go for it. He's really nice, totally
unpretentious, and seems like a really good guy.
I'm way behind on BSG (Nolan and I are still in

and Aaron helped - to avoid spoilers all day. As I

TV SHOW: THE BRIDGE
Aaron is going to be the lead on a new television
series for CTV called THE BRIDGE. THE BRIDGE is a 'cop show' and
Aaron's character is called Frank Leo.
Aaron is flying out to Toronto on Monday to film the 2
hour pilot.
------------------------------------------
THE BRIDGE (WORKING TITLE) This one hour dramatic cop series in the vein of
The Wire and Rescue Me, is set in Toronto and
exceeds the speed limit while following politics,
law and gang enforcement. Set in a fictious police
division, The Bridge spans two disparate worlds, one
of affluence and one and one of abject poverty, a

Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (DST) is
excited to announce plans to once again
participate in the annual Blood Drive at this
year's San Diego Comic-Con! To emphasize the
importance of giving blood, Diamond Select will
be donating a limited edition exclusive
Battlestar Galactica Season 3 Chief Tyrol figure
as a giveaway for participating donors!
Chief Tyrol has been featured on Sci-Fi's
Battlestar Galactica since 2003 and remains a
fan-favorite character. The figure has been
limited to 750 pieces, and will only be
available through the blood drive – they will
not be on sale or given away elsewhere.
"After the last three years' extremely
successful campaigns, we're delighted to once
again be contributing to the Robert A Heinlein
Blood Drive," said Chuck Terceira, Director of
Diamond Select Toys. "They've broken three
consecutive records, so we're hoping for even
more blood to be donated this year!"
In its 31st year, the Robert A. Heinlein Blood
Drive has long been a San Diego Comic-Con
staple. After science-fiction writer Robert A.
Heinlein was ill, he needed several pints of a
rare blood type. Following the illness, Heinlein
created a personal rule that he would only
attend conventions and sign autographs for those
that donated blood. This started the Robert A.
Heinlein Blood Drive at San Diego Comic-Con in
the early 1970's. Last year's 847 pints was the
most blood collected at the drive in ten years,
thanks in part to Diamond Select Toys' continued
support and promotional action figures.
"We are pleased to have Diamond Select on board
to support the Blood Drive. Their donation of
such a limited edition collectible will
certainly help the awareness and success of the
annual event," remarked Comic-Con Director of
Marketing and Public Relations, David Glanzer.
To register for the Blood Drive, stop by the
Blood Drive booth at Comic-Con or visit the
Comic-Con website, www.comic-con.org, for
additional instructions and information.

The Wrath of Con 2008
I
just received an email from Aaron to say that
both he and Tahmoh will not be at
The Wrath of Con
event this weekend. Below is a copy and paste of
Aaron's message .....
I cancelled wrath. I
have to work, as does tahmoh. We agreed to wrath
before there was a strike & we thought there would
be no problem as the show would be done in March. we
are in the last days of shooting & they are not
officially clearing anyone for anything. I would
have loved to go & my apologies to all the fans who
were hoping to see me on the weekend.
The above link is for part one of the comic book
which is based on the film. If you do not want to
spoil yourself on the film, do not read it. I read
the movie script back in May of 2007 and really
regret doing so. But for those of you that want to
see what comic book "Sam the Butcher" looks like
(which looks NOTHING like Aaron), here's some screen
caps with the dialogue removed.

SMALLVILLE / THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL
Aaron has just booked a couple of acting gigs. The first is on SMALLVILLE.
As some of you may remember, he has already appeared on an episode of Smallville before as a police officer (screen caps HERE and video clip HERE). But this time he will be
playing the super villain of the episode. Once I find out which episode it
is, I'll let everyone know.
And secondly, Aaron has booked a small role as a solider on
THE
DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL which is a remake of the 1951 classic
sci-fi film about an alien visitor and his giant robot counterpart who visit
Earth with a message for all humans: live in peace or be destroyed. The film
stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer
Connelly. Filming started today in Vancouver. Aaron is working on Monday and
again in
January.

------------------------------ More Pencil Rewards
Friday, November 30, 2007
Mary McDonnell, Tricia Helfer,
Michael Hogan, Jamie Bamber,
and Michael Trucco have all agreed to
make a personal phone call to fans who win the raffles
in their names. The way this will work is simple: when
you go to the Pencils site, the first box you'll see
asks you the name of the show you wish to support.
Type in "Battlestar Galactica" and then the name of
one of these actors, and your name will then be
automatically entered into a raffle, with the winner
in each category receiving a personal phone call from
that actor. You can certainly buy boxes of pencils for
more than one actor, but each box can only be assigned
one name.
Also, in the
event that the winner of the Aaron Douglas
raffle is not in Vancouver, or cannot travel there (on
their own dime), Aaron has offered to make a personal
phone call to that fan and send a piece of signed
memorabilia.
This is a really
great and generous offer from our cast members and it
could be a once in a life-time chance to get to talk
to them, so take advantage of the opportunity and help
us drown the moguls in pencils!

--------------------------------------------------------- Pencils and Rewards
Thursday, November 29, 2007
Okay, this is pretty cool.
How would you like to go to a hockey game with the
Chief?
That's right, our own Aaron Douglas will take one fan
to a Canucks hockey game, along with another buddy of his up in Vancouver.
And how can you score this treat? Simple. By going to
Pencils2MediaMoguls.com
and buying as many boxes of pencils as you can. On the first page (which is
a subset of United Hollywood) you'll see a place to identify which show
you're supporting. Type in "BSG Aaron Douglas" and we'll enter your
name into a raffle, with the lucky winner getting to attend the hockey game
with Aaron.
In case you haven't heard, the Pencils Campaign is
designed to send a huge amount of pencils to the major studios as a symbol
of fan support for the strike. More information can be found on their
website.
Look for other offers from other members of the
Galactica cast in the near future -- no idea what the offers will be or how
many there may be. I'll keep you informed.
UPDATE: I was just
talking with Aaron about this and telling him it's a shame that not as many
people will enter because they can't get to Vancouver and he said "if the
winner cannot make it to Vancouver I will make a call and send some signed
stuff."

The Chief Tyrol Minimates
are now in store.
You can purchase them from the
BigBadToyStore website (and yes, they ship overseas).
Click on the links below to be taken to their website.
The Chief Tyrol on the
right is more expensive because it is called
a 'variant', which means that it is a variation on one of the characters
already in this release. Only a limited number of the 'variant' figure is
made and is therefore a collectible and more expensive.
